Hydrogen (H2) in drinking water to combat muscle fatigue during exercise: The study examined the effects of drinking hydrogen-rich water on muscle fatigue during intensive training in top athletes (or sports animals). Adequate fluid intake with hydrogen-rich water lowered blood lactate levels and thus improved physical performance. The results show that hydrogen-rich water is a suitable fluid intake for athletes (and sports animals).

Molecular hydrogen (H2) has been shown to be beneficial for exercise performance and recovery. In a double-blind crossover study, hydrogen-rich water was administered. Biochemical markers of muscle damage were reduced during intense exercise. The results showed that H2-rich water significantly prevented muscle damage markers and inflammatory biomarkers. No side effects were observed. H2-rich drinking water is therefore a safe and effective method for reducing muscle damage during intense exercise.
