We have heard and read a lot about impurities or pollutants found in tap water. Decoctions due to bacteria in tap water increase as soon as heavy rains set in. Medicinal residues get into the wastewater through body excretions and incorrect disposal of expired medicines, cannot be completely removed by waterworks and remain in the water cycle and thus also in the drinking water. Fertilization with manure from animal husbandry and chemical fertilizers add substances to the soil and thus also the groundwater that are not good for us. Substances from industrial residues can be detected.

Fortunately, there are limit values ​​that must be adhered to. Approx. 40-50 substances are examined in accordance with the Drinking Water Ordinance. However, public sources speak of up to 1,000 substances contained in the water. So far, no laboratory has examined, tested and published all substances, nor the new chemical compounds that the substances enter into. As a result, the health consequences of long-term consumption cannot be foreseen. Hormones and hormone-like substances, which according to the Drinking Water Ordinance do not have to be examined, have an impact on reproductive abilities and fertility when taken again. Drug residues are dissolved in the wastewater and also remain in the water cycle.

Water is not formed anew on earth and is only available to a very low 3 percent as fresh water. Most of it is bound in icebergs and glaciers. Only about 1 percent is available as drinking water. And unfortunately in cases that is mixed with substances that are not good for us humans.
