Many people are worried about current and possible new waves of corona infections and wonder what conditions can promote infections. According to studies, air pollution plays a central role in the severity of disease symptoms.<\/p>\n

We now know that air pollution exacerbates the health effects of any coronavirus (not just the current SARS-CoV-2). As early as 2003, a study published in the middle of the SARS epidemic indicated that air pollution could possibly explain the differences in mortality rates, making it clear for the first time that the higher the air pollution, the greater the likelihood of contracting the disease caused by a coronavirus to die.<\/em><\/p>\n

Since then, more and more research has shown that people who breathe dirty air throughout their lives are more susceptible to the corona virus. In the US, a recent medical study concluded that regions with more polluted air have a higher risk of dying from Covid-19. It showed that counties with higher levels of air pollution may see more hospitalizations and deaths.<\/em><\/p>\n
